Loan procedures manual

1. Introduction

This loan procedures manual is for Queensland independent public library staff using the public library collections at State Library.

This manual provides details of the resources available for loan, including options for generating reserves, how material is sent to your library, and conditions of the loan.  The manual should be used in conjunction with other resources provided on this site.

2. Public library collections

All items held in the public library collections are listed in the Rural Libraries Queensland (RLQ) catalogue at Queensland's public libraries use the password assigned by State Library to reserve titles via the catalogue. One password is provided to each independent local government.

3. Interlibrary loans

State Library provides a support service for interlibrary loans to libraries.  All the public library collections at State Library, located at Cannon Hill in Brisbane are available for loan.

3.1 Requests

Reserves can be placed via the RLQ catalogue using your library barcode and password. Your library barcode and password are provided to you and will be unique to the RLQ network.  Reserves can be placed for an item that is on loan or on order.  The first available copy will satisfy the reservation.

Reserved items are sent for an eight-week loan period. You may renew your loans online through your account on the catalogue.  This will allow you one online renewal, if there are no reservations pending on the item.

Ensure the pick-up location in the catalogue is Cannon Hill (PLS).  Staff will manage the loan.  Any questions regarding loans should be directed to - not to individual RLQ locations.
